# Digital Fabrication

The Fundamentals of Digital Fabrication seminar is our first introduction to the lab's technologies, tools, and fabrication processes as new MDEF students. Over nine weeks, we’ll dive into essential 3D design software, learn to work with digital fabrication machines, explore basic electronics, and practice design and production techniques that will be invaluable for creating more advanced projects throughout the year. Each session also includes a complementary group task, giving us hands-on experience and collaboration opportunities.

In the first session, we were introduced to the course concept, the schedule, and an overview of what we’ll be doing in the upcoming classes. We then learned about the fabrication and prototyping process, along with the tools and materials available to us. To wrap up, we toured the workspace and received an introduction to the various tools we’ll be learning to use.
