# Design Studio 01

The MDEF Research, Design, and Development studios are designed to help us refine our project ideas and move them toward a concrete execution plan. The structure spans three terms, each with a specific focus:

This term is all about exploring what it means to design for emerging futures. We’ll analyze past trends, identify potential areas of interest, and start experimenting from a personal perspective to identify possible directions.

In this first Design Studio, we’ll work on establishing a strong foundation for our projects. Weekly activities will connect insights from various courses—such as mapping, cartography, prototyping, and first-person design—to help shape our individual development plans and define an intervention area by the end of the term. Activities will include presentations, group work, short exercises, and personal coaching.
